A Learnathon is similar to a Hackathon, except instead of building a product, you use your skills in research and communication, some structured exercises, and a interdisciplinary team to map the fundamental concepts and questions in field or area that is totally new to all of you.
You have 6 hours to develop elegant explanations for the most important ideas in the topic area, and come up with a research question that is worthy of the world's curiosity. What will you discover?

From 11am - 5pm, in small groups and on your own, hone your skills in research and teaching and seek to find elegant explanations to powerful ideas in a new discipline. At the end of the day, you will have 1-5 minutes to teach everyone in attendance the most useful new things you have uncovered throughout the day, the audience will decide who has truly learned a thon.
Great thanks to our friends at Experiment.com for graciously hosting us and for the work they do year round to push forward the frontiers of scientific knowledge.
Please register in advance so that we can fill you into small groups based on interests and experience. We would greatly appreciate any donations to put towards the prize pool, refreshments, and overhead costs.
